SHC orders release of consignment of cellular phones
KARACHI: A division bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) on Tuesday ordered release of a consignment of cellular phones after the importers/petitioner Rahim Mirani and Custom department reached a settlement.
The petitioner can opt for Home Consumption and filed a new Goods Declaration. Ismat Mehdi advocate appearing for the petitioner submitted that she is ready to file a new GD along with the type approval as required from Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). She said that consignment is stuck up since many months and petitioner have incurred container rent of rupees 0.6 million and demurrage of rupees 0.7 million.
The bench allowing the request ordered the Customs to process the GD after it was filed by the petitioner side and settle the dispute as per law.
