KARACHI: Notices were issued to Orient Lubricants in two identical Special Tax Reference Appeals filed by Commissioner Inland Revenue against order of an Appellate Tribunal dated 15-12-2015.
According to the impugned order of the appellate tribunal the appellant/respondent Orient Lubricants cannot be treated as a refinery and hence cannot be taxed as such. It was further held that for levy of tax or for raising tax demand, a unit must have been registered with OGRA.
The bench comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Abdul Malik Gaddi today ordered issuance of notice to the respondent company for a date to be fixed later by the office of the court.
