KARACHI: Ameer Muhammad Khan, Special Judge Customs, Taxation and Anti-Smuggling, Lahore has decided the Customs case regarding smuggling of foreign currency equal to Rs37.37 million which was seized by the Customs Staff of Model Customs Collectorate (Preventive), Lahore from a lady passenger / smuggler namely Rahat Shahzadi w/o Muhammad Saeed at International Departure Hall, Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore during July, 2013.
The charges leveled against her have been established under the Customs Act, 1969. Rahat Shahzadi is sentenced for 05 years along with fine of 05 times value of seized currency. The accused lady smuggler is handed over to Central Jail, Kotlakhput, Lahore.
It may be mentioned here that a similar nature of currency smuggling case is underway against supermodel Ayyan Ali, and recently Supreme Court has ordered to exclude her name from the Exit Control List.
