KARACHI: On the special directives of Imtiaz Ahmed Khan, Director General Customs Intelligence, Islamabad, the Directorate of Customs Intelligence Quetta has stepped up its efforts to crack down on contrabands/narcotics and has seized large quantity of foreign origin narcotics comprising of 120 Kgs Charas.
The Director I&I Quetta Irfan-ur-Rehman formed a team headed by Deputy Director Inamullah Wazir. The narcotics were recovered through a special operation conducted near Saranan area on Chaman-Quetta road. The narcotics were artfully concealed in the secret cavities of a car having registration No. M-0170.
The value of seized narcotics in the international market is estimated to be Rs12 million. A case has been registered and investigation is under way to unearth the smuggling gang behind this nefarious activity.
It is highlighted here this is the third seizure case of Customs Intelligence Quetta in less than 3 weeks. Earlier, the Customs Intelligence Quetta had seized 07 Kgs of Heroin and 810 Kgs of Charas, from a Car and a Bus respectively.
Directorate of Customs Intelligence Quetta is quite short of staff and resources comprising 06 sepoys and 02 superintendents and this strength covers the entire Balochistan, which is the hub of smuggling and smugglers.
