KARACHI: The National Tariff Commission (NTC) has imposed a definitive anti-dumping duty at 16.97 percent on import of Sorbitol from India for a period of five years.
Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has circulated to all customs station on Friday stated that NTC had earlier imposed a provisional anti-dumping duty on imports of Sorbitol at the rate of 16.97 percent ad valorem of Cost and Freight (C&F) price importable from India for a period of four months, effective from August 25, 2015.
The commission has now imposed definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of Sorbitol classified under Pakistan Customs Tariff Nos. 2905.4400 and 3824.6000 at the rate of 16.7 percent on all Indian exporters of Sorbitol.
The definitive anti-dumping duty has been levied for a period of five years with effect from August 25, 2015.
The commission further said that the anti-dumping duty imposed should be collected in the same manner as customs duties were being collected under Customs Act, 1969.
Duties so collected will be deposited under the head-civil deposits for further deposits in NTC’s non-lapsable account established with Federal Treasury Office, Islamabad.
The commission further said that definitive anti-dumping duty levied would be in addition to other anti-dumping duty imposed earlier and taxes and duties levied under any other law however, it would not levied on imports that are to be used as inputs in products destined solely for exports.
