KARACHI: Directorate of Customs I&I Enforcement Karachi acting on an information received from DG Imtiaz Ahmed has recovered large quantity of explosive material from a container at Karachi port.

Director Customs Intelligence Yakoob Mako confirmed the incident and informed that the action was taken by a team heded by Additional Director Farrukh Sajjad and Deputy director Amjad Rajpar as per the directives of Director General Imtiaz Ahmed.

It may be mentioned here Customs Intelligence Peshawar had seized two containers of explosives recently, due to which the unscrupulous elements were reluctant to clear the third container. These containers were imported from China.

As the GD had not been filed, a permission was sought from Chief Collector Abdul Rasheed Shaikh for joint examination of the container.

Around 22 tons of explosive material was recovered and further investigations into the matter are under way.
