KARACHI:- A division bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Zulfiqar Ahmed Khan ordered provisional release of a consignment of toilet soaps while fixing further hearing of the petition on Jan 13.
United World Corporation and Ashraf traders filed the petition against Secretary Revenue, Director General and Director Valuation besides Collector Customs, Appraisement, and East. According to the petitioners, they have imported different toilet soap items from Indonesia, Malaysia and UAE, filed the Goods Declaration and requested valuation at transactional value but the custom authorities arbitrarily valuing the goods under Valuation Ruling 737/2015 dated 27-5-2015 which is on higher side.
Ghulamullah advocate appearing for the petitioners submitted that the honorable court in a CP–D 7893 has ordered provisional release. He submitted that the same issues are involved in this petition too.
Masooda Wahab advocate for Valuation department and Ilyas Ahsan, law officer, Pakistan Customs made no objection to the plea of provisional release after which the bench ordered release of the consignment while adjourning further hearing till Jan 13 along with identical cases.
