KARACHI: Calling a report from Federal Board of Revenue that whether concrete mixer trucks imported by any company in Pakistan have been released after inspection by local agents of an inspection company, hearing of a case regarding release of more than 20 trucks was adjourned indefinitely by a division bench of High Court of Sindh here Tuesday.

Earlier the bench comprising Justice Sajjad Ali Shah and Justice Muhammad Junaid Ghaffar heard arguments by Khawaja Shamsul Islam advocate, counsel for petitioner Baig Enterprises and Engineering, Tarnol, Islamabad.

The petitioner prays to the court to direct the custom officials to get the imported trucks inspected by agents of a qualified inspection company to ensure release of the same, as these are badly required for various construction projects of the importer company.

Today on a submission by the counsel for petitioner, the bench said that if any person was given concession than it shall be extended to every importer across the board. The bench asked the relevant officers of customs to attend on next date of hearing and that they shall appear with all relevant record to counter the submissions by the petitioner’s counsel.
