KARACHI:- A division bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Sajjad Ali Shah and Justice Muhammad Junaid Ghaffar on Thursday deferred hearing of a constitutional petition filed by Mansoor Foods till Dec 03 on request by counsel for Pakistan Customs.

The petitioner maintains that they are the importers of Sodium Saccharine of Mesh 20-40 . The imported item was declared under PCT Heading 2925,1100 at a rate of US $ 2.75 per kilogram but the Custom authorities are assessing the same under Valuation ruling 446 dated 20-8-2012 and assessed custom duty at a value of US $ 4.24 which is on higher side and such assessment is arbitrary and in violation of Valuation Ruling. The petitioner intended to proceed with the case but custom side sought adjournment on ground that they haven’t received instructions.

The bench, however allowed the request and ordered hearing of the petition on Dec 03.
