KARACHI:- Notice were issued to the Deputy Attorney General, Chairman FBR, Collector Model Customs Collectorate (East) and Director General Valuation for Oct 21 by a division bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Sajjad Ali Shah and Justice Junaid Ghaffar here on Friday.
The bench was hearing a constitution petition filed by Usman Enterprises which imported 44163 Kilograms of Carbon Steel Seamless Pipes from China at a declared price of US $ 0.5750 and filed an online Goods Declaration (GD). The customs however rejected the assessed it to be US $ 0.8520 under Valuation Ruling 303 dated 28-3-2011.
The petitioner prays that dispute over the price is causing a delay in clearance of consignment incurring heavy demurrage. The court was prayed to order the provisional release of the imported consignment.
The same bench also fixed Oct 30 for hearing a petition challenging impounding of two oil tankers on allegation of smuggled POL. The petitioner maintains that Anti Smuggling Organization, Head Quarters intercepted the two vehicles and impounded them despite the certificate that these were filled from BYCO terminal. The petitioner Gas and Oil Pakistan (Pvt) Limited prayed to the court to order release of the oil tankers.
