KARACHI: The Director Valuation, Pakistan Customs was directed by a division bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) to decide the issue of Valuation Ruling about Servo Motors within 15 days.
The order came in a constitution petition filed by Atif Ishtiaq of Furqan Textiles, Lahore who challenged a Valuation Ruling 750 0f 2015 imposing a duty anx taxes of US $ 30 per unit.
Citing the Federal Secretary, Revenue , Collector Customs East, DG Valuation and Director Valuation, the petitioner maintained that previously the servo motors were charged at lower and variable rates but the new Valuation Ruling increases the value by very high proportion and thus against the provision of Section 25 of the Customs Act 1969. The new Valuation Ruling prejudices the business interest and unrealistic in terms of value in international market, the petitioner stated praying to the court to direct the respondents to re-dtermine the VR.
The bench after hearing Kashif Nazeer, counsel for Pakistan Customs and counsel for petitioner disposing of the petition ordered the Director Valuation to decide the review application of the petitioner/applicant pending with him within next 15 days.
