KARACHI: The Customs Adjudication has imposed a penalty of Rs50,000 each on two Pakistani nationals for making an attempt to smuggle excess amount of foreign currency out of Pakistan.
Outright confiscation of the foreign currency in their possession has also been ordered.
According to the details, Arsalan Iqbal S/o Iqbal Ahmed and Umair Munawwar Rana S/o Ghulam Munwar were traveling to Dubai. The passengers declared to have foreign currency in excess of $10,000, which is the prescribed limit by the central bank.
The passengers’ baggage was examined followed by a personal which resulted in recovery of $8,850, £1,400 and Riyal 30,000 from Umair Munawwar Rana S/o Ghulam Munwar and Riyal 68,900 from Arsalan Iqbal S/o Iqbal Ahmed.
The accused have been warned to be careful in future.
