KARACHI: The MCC Appraisement West is issuing ‘assessment alert’ to check importers who are unlawfully claiming the benefit of SRO 1125(I)/2011 and SRO 56(I)/2006 on import and clearance of yarn/fabric.

Since a number of importers are under scrutiny to ascertain their genuineness, therefore a list of importers has been prepared; these would be treated as commercial importers instead of manufacturers and value added tax would be collected on their imports.

These importers include M/s Hadi Textile, M/s RWH Brothers, M/s Amin Industries, M/s NBB Corporation, M/s Faiz International, M/s Aziz International and M/s Universal Tex, M/s Crescent Textile, M/s Hajra Textile, M/s Kiran Enterprises and M/s A.A Towel.

The concerned officials and departments have also been advised to insure compliance/vigilance while processing the import consignments of above mentioned importers. Moreover, status of registered person on active taxpayer list should invariably be checked in all cases before extending the benefit of SRO 1125(I)/2011.

Sources said that the notification in this regard along with the list of suspected importers would be issued shortly.
