KARACHI: Pakistan Customs has revised the valuation of Chinese origin unbranded audio/video system/MP3 for vehicles up to $15 per piece for the collection of duty and taxes, a notification said.
The Directorate General of Customs Valuation on Thursday issued a Valuation Ruling No. 669/2014 for the determination of customs values; as import of such goods were being cleared at under invoiced values which was causing revenue loss to government exchequer.
The customs values for unbranded audio/video system/mp3 for vehicles of Chinese origin are included:
1. MP3 for vehicles; $7/pc
2. DVD audio/video player for vehicle without LCD; $7/pc
3. DVD audio/video player for vehicle with LCD/GPS navigator; $15/pc
4. TFT screen; $5/pc
5. Car stereo player; $3/pc
6. Car amplifier; $4/pc
It said, “Meetings were held with stakeholders for participation in determination of customs values of the goods on March 17, 2014 and March 28, 2014.”
Market enquiry was conducted under Sub-Section (7) Section 25 and findings of enquiry as provided under Sub-Section (7) Section 25 read with Sub-Section (9) ibid were adopted to determine the customs values for audio/video system/MP3 for vehicles.
In case of consignments imported by air, the assessing officer shall take into account the differential between air freight and sea freight while applying the customs values determined in this ruling, notification said.
“A review petition may be filed against this ruling within 30 days from the date of issuance.” It added that the collector of customs may kindly ensure that he values given in this ruling for the given description of goods are applied by the concerned staff without fail.
It further added that any anomaly observed with respect to PCT may kindly be brought to the notice of directorate general immediately.
