KARACHI: The law and order situation and security threats arising due to the long-march and sit-in episode of Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri resulted in an approximately 50 percent decline in the revenue collection of One Customs comprising appraisement, Port Qasim and Air Freight Unit.
According to statistics, the collection of One Customs declined to Rs5.639 billion during the week (January 14-19, 2013), Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri’s Islamabad sit-in episode continued compared with the collection of Rs10.495 billion during the previous week (January 07-12, 2013)/
The overall business and economic activities had been significantly reduced during the subject week due to the security threats pertaining to the long-march and sit-in and the possible law and order situation that might arise following any mishap.
The custom duty during the subject week declined to Rs1.798 billion from Rs3.327 billion in the previous week; sales tax declined to Rs3.821 billion from Rs5.563 billion while income tax collection was reduced to Rs1.021 billion compared with Rs1.605 billion in the previous week.
