SHC issues notices in tooth paste import case

KARACHI: An appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Mrs Ashraf Jahan and Justice Arshad Hussain on Thursday issued notices to the respondent custom officials for Sept 11 in a petition filed by Hanseka Corporation.

A counsel from Franklin Law Associates appearing for the petitioner company maintained that previous Valuation Ruling in respect of imported item, tooth paste has outlived while new VR was not issued by the Director, Valuation Ruling thus section 25-d of the Customs Act 1969 is being violated.

In the circumstances, petitioner /importer is entitled to benefit of provisional release under section 81 of the Customs Act but same was being denied leaving petitioner with no other option but to file the instant petition, the lawyer from Franklin Law Associates submitted.

The bench after hearing initial arguments ordered issuance of notices to the respondent Pakistan Custom officials for Sept 11.
