KARACHI: A Special Customs Appellate Court (SCAT) headed by Member Judicial, Muhammad Sajid Abbasi allowed an appeal filed by owner of a lifter crane challenging confiscation by the Pakistan Customs.
The vehicle in dispute, a Hino truck fitted with a lifter was detained on ground that it was imported in violation of import policy as it was more than five years old. The order by custom authorities was upheld in Order in Original (ONO) which was assailed before the appellate tribunal.
Ms Dil Khurram Shaheen advocate representing Eastern Construction Company, the appellants relied on two judgments one each by Supreme Court and another by a division bench of High Court of Sindh and said the vehicle was detained in violation of these two judgments.
The SCAT after hearing the sides ordered release of the vehicle.
