SHC dismisses petition seeking release of bus used in HSD smuggling

KARACHI: A division bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Agha Faisal dismissed a petition seeking release of a bus involved in smuggling of HSD used for smuggling Iranian oil.

The bench on last date of hearing instructed department to produce photographs of secret cavities in which oil was smuggled, and today the same was photographs were produced before the bench wherein cavities were built specially for smuggling beneath the passenger seats, which established the “Mense Rea” of Petitioner for smuggling of HSD of 3180 Liters was hearing a petition filed by Abdul Wahid.

Khalid Rajpar advocate, counsel for Pakistan Customs ASO Preventive, opposed the petition on ground that by smuggling diesel into cavities of a passenger vehicle was dangerous for the passengers travelling in the bus.

Honorable DB passed order while rejecting its release and directed petitioner to join adjudication proceedings pending before Collector of Appeals.
