KARACHI: A customs appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Agha Faisal on Monday issued notices for April 27 in two identical petitions challenging non release of two Asphalt Paver machines.
The machines are essential for road construction. According to petitioners they have imported the vehicles but customs demand Pre Shipment Inspection (PSI) report regarding specification, age etc. The same bench has reserved orders in a number of identical petitions
Today hearing the petitions filed by Minhaj Construction Company and M Arif Construction Company, the bench ordered issuance of notices to the respondent custom officials for April 24.
The same bench also ordered production of a dumper truck before the Nazir of the courtby April 30. The vehicle was detained on allegation of tampered chasis.
Today Ms Dil Khurram Shaheen advocate appearing for the petitioner submitted that all the legal issues were settled by the Special Customs Appellate Tribunal and release was ordered but custom officials are resorting to delay tactics.
The bench after hearing the counsels ordered officials of Port Muhammad Bin Qasim to produce the vehicle by April 30.
