KARACHI: The web based customs clearing system (WeBOC) shut down on Tuesday noon throughout the country and has not been restored until the filing of this report.

The WeBOC system collapsed at 3:30pm on Tuesday stopping all import and export clearances. The system was restored later in the evening for a brief period of time and collapsed again. The system was not restored till Wednesday evening.

An official said the system failure stopped all clearance causing problems and losses to the traders. In the other hand government suffered revenue collection as only Customs Appraisement South collects Rs8.0 billion a day of duty and taxes.
