SHC orders production of detained vehicle by Oct 17

KARACHI: A customs appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Omar Sial ordered production of a Toyota X series before Nazir of Court on or before Oct 17.
The bench was hearing a constitution petition filed by owner of a vehicle duly purchased locally.
According to details Fazal Subhan who deals in US Immigration cases and a pshycologist was going to Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) with his wife Dr Fareeda, Gynecologist on Sept 11, 2017 as she was called to attend an emergency case when DIT officials intercepted the vehicle.
The owners/occupants presented all documents including purchase papers, import documents, ABL Loan documents, on Line verification from Motor Vehicle Registration but they forcible took away the vehicle, submitted counsel Ms Dil Khurram Shaheen advocate.
The act of respondents was in excess of authority and illegal as vehicle was duly purchased locally and all proof have been annexed with the petition, she contended.
Earlier the officer concerned appeared before the court who was asked to file a personal affidavit regarding memo of confiscation of the vehicle. The bench will hear the case now on Oct 17.
