MCC Port Qasim detects revenue evasion of Rs48.494 million in five months

KARACHI: MCC Port Qasim has detected evasion of government revenue by M/s Rana Enterprises by mis-declaring weight of the imported LED lights. The importer in connivance with the clearing agent mis-declared the weight of goods attracting lower valuation.

Information was passed from collector Port Qasim Saeed Akram to Additional Collector Yasin Murtaza and Deputy Collector Ahsan Ali Shah that M/s Rana Enterprises managed to get the consignment examined by showing misappropriated weight on goods attracting lower valuations.

Principal Appraiser Shahid Rizvi, Appraising Officers Anwar Zeb, Insram Rabbani re-examined the consignment and the differential value was found to be $56051 involving duty and taxes of Rs2.845 million.

The examination report has been fed in the system for completion of assessment facilities and formation of contravention report.

CIU Section of MCC Port Qasim has made record-breaking performance in the last five months and detected several cases involving revenue of Rs48.494 million.  Of these cases recoveries have already been affected in many cases while recoveries are pending in rest of the cases owing to litigation at adjudication, tribunal and court stages.
