KARACHI: Customs staff posted at Benazir Bhutto International Airport has foiled an attempt to smuggle smart phones into the country.
Collector Islamabad Arslan Subuctageen has advised his team to keep strict vigilance on the movement of passengers so that any attempt of smuggling could be thwarted.
During the clearance of flight No. PK-212 arrived at BBI Airport, Islamabad from Dubai, one passenger namely lmran Sadiq tried to avail green channel facility. Upon suspicion, he was diverted to red channel whereby after scanning and baggage examination 120 smart mobile phones were recovered. Approximate market value of the seized mobile phones is Rs1.4 million.
The mobile phones have been seized, passenger has been arrested and FIR is registered. Further investigation is in progress.
