KARACHI: Chief Collector Appraisement South has revised upwards the revenue collection targets of all collectorates within the jurisdiction of Appraisement South for the last quarter of the current fiscal year i.e. April-June 2017.

The office of Chief Collector conducted a detailed analysis of the revenue quantum and collection for the current year of the Appraisement South collectorates.

Due to the creation of a new container terminal SAPT within the jurisdiction of MCC appraisement East and congestion on KICT, about 19 percent of cargo volume from West wharf has shifted to East wharf. Moreover, 5.0 percent  of shift is observed towards Port Qasim as well.

Therefore, revenue targets of all collectorates falling in the jurisdiction of Appraisement south for last quarter of the fiscal year have been revised.

The customs duty collection target of MCC Appraisement East is increased by 19.1 percent to Rs47.338 billion from earlier defined target of Rs39.78 billion for the quarter ending June 30, 2017. The sales tax collection target of MCC Appraisement East is increased by 20 percent to Rs68.686 billion from earlier defined target of Rs57.238 billion for the quarter ending June 30, 2017. The WHT collection target of MCC Appraisement East is increased by 25 percent to Rs18 billion from earlier defined target of Rs14.4 billion for the quarter ending June 30, 2017. The FED collection target of MCC Appraisement East is increased by 0.95 percent to Rs419 million from earlier defined target of Rs415 million for the quarter ending June 30, 2017.

The customs duty collection target of MCC Appraisement West is decreased by 20.8 percent to Rs36.046 billion from earlier defined target of Rs45.57 billion for the quarter ending June 30, 2017. The sales tax collection target of MCC Appraisement West is decreased by 33.8 percent to Rs28.97 billion from earlier defined target of Rs43.77 billion for the quarter ending June 30, 2017. The WHT collection target of MCC Appraisement West is decreased by 29.5 percent to Rs10.285 billion from earlier defined target of Rs14.636 billion for the quarter ending June 30, 2017. The FED collection target of MCC Appraisement West is decreased by 0.95 percent to Rs419 million from earlier defined target of Rs415 million for the quarter ending June 30, 2017.

The customs duty collection target of MCC Port Qasim is increased by 5.1 percent to Rs41.33 billion from earlier defined target of Rs39.369 billion for the quarter ending June 30, 2017. The sales tax collection target of MCC Port Qasim is increased by 4.9 percent to Rs70.461 billion from earlier defined target of Rs67.10 billion for the quarter ending June 30, 2017. The WHT collection target of MCC Port Qasim is increased by 6.1 percent to Rs13.268 billion from earlier defined target of Rs12.517 billion for the quarter ending June 30, 2017. The FED collection target of MCC Port Qasim is maintained  at Rs905 million.

The entire customs machinery would start collecting revenue in advance to meet targets and the last quarter of the fiscal year is very sensitive, Customs would have its eyes fixed on fast clearing of consignments and collecting revenue leaving room for frauds.
