KARACHI: Justice Muhammad Junaid Ghaffar of High Court of Sindh (SHC) deferred hearing of a suit filed by importer of 800 specialized vehicles seeking release of first consignment of 10 dumper trucks.

Mir Jeeaqn Badini moved the court making the Chairman FBR, Governor SBP, Bank Al-Falah, KPT and Collector Customs, Model Customs Collectorate, South submitted a number of documents establishing that he imported 10 vehicles under a standby agreement with the messrs Kenya and Burki Motors FZCO, Ras Al Khor Industrial Area, Dubai. He also opened the LC and later the vehicles were brought in the country.

The custom officials detained the same on ground that import policy 2016 banned the import of the said vehicles. The plaintiff making an application for urgent hearing submitted that the items are perishable and huge loss would be caused to the petitioner.

When the suit came up for hearing, counsel for Pakistan Customs, main respondent submitted written statement and sought time. The bench allowed the request putting of further hearing till March 22. The petitioner is importing 200 dumper trucks, 100 Transit Mixtures and 500 Prime Movers.
