KARACHI: A division bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi and Justice Syed Faisal Kamal Alam disposing of a constitution petition filed by a petitioner Rehman Shafqat Ali ordered release of a consignment of empty plastic bottles.

The bench earlier heard Zia-ul-Hasan advocate, counsel for petitioner/importer who maintained that Pakistan Customs, Valuation under a letter issued by Deputy Director, Valuation assessed the value to US $ 3.50 per kilogram as against a declared value of US $ 1.01 which is arbitrary and against international market price.

The bench after hearing the counsel for Customs, valuation disposed of the petition directing the petitioner to deposit the 50 per cent of differential amount (declared and assessed) in cash and 50 per cent in pay order with the authorities of the Port Muhammad Bin Qasim.

The bench also ordered the respondent valuation department officials to re-assess the value and decide the controversy fairly and justly.
