KARACHI: KARACHI Tax Bar Association (KTBA) has requested the federal government to extend date for filing of Corporate , Non Corporate Tax Returns and Statements for the Tax Year 2016 till Jan 31.

Seeking indulgence of Federal Finance Minister, KTBA said that as major contributors in government exchequer, it has again and again informed the Federal Board of Revenue with the difficulties and problems in e-filing/filing of the Tax Returns 2016  which were duly acknowledged and  solved by the FBR and PRAL.

While praising the efforts of FBR & PRAL for making the IRIS System efficient, KTBA said still the system is slow and is not up-to the mark and creating difficulties specially at the last hours which is alarming for the Tax Filers.

It was pointed out that IRIS was malfunctioning till the end of October, 2016 and subsequently from Nov 01, 2016 the System improved and since then taxpayers and tax consultants are trying their level best by working day and night to complete the job of filing of taxes in order to comply to the law but are unable to complete due to slow functioning and the huge back log of tax returns of the regular filers which will all become ‘Non–Filers’ only due to the IRIS System.

KTBA said that genuine taxpayers of the country seeks indulgence into the matter and extension of extending the filing date by Jan 31.
