KARACHI: Directorate of Intelligence – Inland Revenue, Karachi has seized large quantities of cigarettes on which Sales Tax and FED was not paid.
Director General I&I-IRS Khawaja Tanveer has initiated a campaign against the cigarette manufacturers in KPK and Azad Kashmir evading sales tax and federal excise duty. Several teams have been formed across Pakistan to check ST/FED evaded cigarette. In the first phase ST/FED evaded cigarettes are being seized from various godowns and these factories would also be raided.
The manufacturers identified involved in evasion include M/s Walton Tobacco, M/s Falcon Tobacco, M/s NTI Tobacco, National Tobacco Company, Khyber Tobacco Company, Frontier Leaf Tobacco. Highway, Gold Street, City, Olympic Cigarettes, Bridge, Hero and National are the brands of these companies.
Inland Revenue Intelligence headed by two deputy directors raided several godowns in Hyderabad and seized large quantity of ST/FED evaded cigarettes worth millions of rupees.
