He is blacklisted/barredfor his further employment in future, for all customs business. A penalty of Rs. 50,000 is imposed upon M/s Basathia Impex.

Sources told Customnews.pk this development is a in a very positive direction and it would impose the writ of Customs particularly on trade bodies and associations who try to influence and pressurize government functionaries.

Officials had been facilitating the trade bodies in good faith but these trade bodies had crossed the limits and pose threat even to the security of the institution. These trade bodies only serve the purpose of a few and influence government agencies while these bodies do not serve the industry they represent. A policy is under discussion to eliminate this practice.
