KARACHI: The Directorate General of Customs Valuation had dismissed the review petition of footwear importers against the Valuation Ruling No.859/2016.
The revision petition noted that the department of customs valuation re-determined the value of footwear vide Valuation Ruling No.859/2016 without involving the stakeholders from commercial/industrial importers of footwear items, which is negation of principle of natural justice.
The impugned ruling increased the customs values of goods by over 100 percent with respect to previous ruling.
The Customs however prayed that the valuation ruling 859/2016 may be maintained and allowed to hold field for uniform assessment purpose all over the country.
The Director General of Customs Valuation after due deliberation dismissed the review petition of footwear importers.
Meanwhile, the footwear importers have approached Customs Appellate Tribunal against the Valuation Ruling No.859/2016.
