KARACHI: MCC Appraisement East has framed Contravention Reports against several big companies, who abused the green channel facility and got their import consignments cleared without complying with the documentation requirements.

Collector Appraisement East Ashad Jawwad in view of reports that several high-profile importers were misusing the green channel facility constituted a team comprising Deputy Collector Ataullah Shabbir, Deputy Collector Zohra Naqvi and Principal Appraiser Muzaffar Rizvi to look into the matter.

In order to check as to whether the importers were fulfilling all legal formalities and correctly paid the legitimate amount of duty and taxes, several Goods Declarations were selected for scrutiny for post release verification.

Scrutiny found that several companies include M/s Archroma Pakistan Limited, M/s AGFA Pakistan Pvt Ltd, M/s Poly Pack Pvt Ltd, M/s Clariant Chemical Pakistan, M/s Abbot Laboratories Pakistan and M/s Kolachee International did not submit a single document required to be field with the GD and managed to get the goods cleared through the system.

Contravention Reports against M/s Archroma Pakistan Limited, M/s AGFA Pakistan Pvt Ltd, M/s Poly Pack Pvt Ltd, M/s Clariant Chemical Pakistan, M/s Abbot Laboratories Pakistan and M/s Kolachee International have been prepared for necessary action.
