KARACHI: Since there is no mechanism for verification of persons on whose names WeBOC unique user IDs have been issued, FBR is likely to make it mandatory for all WeBOC users to obtain unique user identifier.
The WeBOC user having user ID or an authorized representative will have to appear in person before the User-ID office along with the necessary particulars.
The Collector may order for verification of the genuineness of any user before or after issuance of unique user identifier, including verification through biometrics of the concerned person.
The Customs Appraisement South has proposed this amendment in Customs Rules, as this would empower the Collector for verification of the particulars of any specific user.
The verification through biometrics can be adopted to check unscrupulous ghost commercial importers clearing goods on self assessment basis.
