KARACHI: R&D MCC Appraisement East has arrested Mohammad Shakeel of M/s Talha Trading as he was nominated in the FIR No.21/2016 lodged against M/s AMI Pakistan Pvt Ltd and others regarding switch bill of lading case.

Mohammad Shakeel is an importer and imported five containers of soap noodles from Malaysia. However, with the connivance of the M/s AMI Pakistan the shipment was declared in the IGM to be coming from China and shipped by Chinese supplier. The importer availed FTA benefit on this shipment.

This is one of the 38 FIRs lodged by MCC Appraisement East and MCC Appraisement West against M/s AMI Pakistan and others.

MCC Appraisement East has made significant progress in the investigations of the case and has found involvement of M/s AMI Dubai, which mis-declared port of shipment as Jebel Ali instead of actual Dubai in one of the consignments.

Customs has arrested total three persons including former CEO of M/s AMI Pakistan Arif Humayun, Manager Marketing Noman and Mohammad Shakeel.

This is a high profile case and investigations are progressing fast. Customs is conducting raids to arrest the nominated accused who have not availed interim bail from the court.

Collector Appraisement East Ashad Jawwad has formed a team headed by Deputy Collector Jam Imran and comprising Principal Appraiser Ibrahim Khan, Appraising Officer Ashfaq ur Rehman, Preventive Officer Malak Hashim, Adil Rasheed and Samad Ali are conducting raids to nab the accused.
