KARACHI: The anti-smuggling drive launched by Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has gained momentum across Punjab, and Customs staff has made several seizures of large quantity of smuggled goods.

Collector Islamabad Dr. Arsalan Subuctageen is supervising the operations in federal capital. The anti smuggling squads of Customs Collectorate Islamabad seized near Deena Chock, GT Road, a huge consignment of Indian origin ladies Sarees, fabric, stitched ladies suits, bridal dresses and laces etc, which was a full truck load coming from Chakoti, Azad Kashmir.

Three persons have been arrested and a truck was also seized. FIR has been registered and investigations have been initiated. The total value of the seizure comes to about Rs2.67 million.

Earlier, the staff of anti smuggling organization Preventive Lahore in pursuant to an information under the supervision of Assistant Collector Dr. Muhammad Adnan Khan intercepted a bus and recovered smuggled goods including cloth, LEDs, shampoo and iron. The bus was carrying these goods from Peshawar to Lahore. The value of  goods is around Rs2.0 million.
