KARACHI: The hearing of petitions filed against valuation of Soap Noodles at higher arbitrary rates by the Directorate of Custom Valuation was adjourned till  April 6 by a bench of High Court of Sindh.

Earlier the bench heard Masooda Siraj advocate , counsel for Director General Customs  Valuation who submitted that plaintiff have impugned the Valuation Ruling 702 while the controversy revolves round three VR viz VR 496, 702 and 737. She contended that Director VR issued Valuation Ruling 737 before the judgment by the tribunal in appeal filed by the plaintiffs. She contended that imported consignment s include branded and non branded material besides prices of the finished product was shown to be  less than the price of the raw material, a fact which made declared price as suspicious. She contended that all procedure was followed under section 25-A.

The noodles carried a price tag of US $ 800 per metric ton while price of manufactured goods  was less than he price of raw material, sources said sensing foul play at the  end of the petitioners.

The bench today however after hearing the counsel for both sides treating the matter as part heard adjourned further proceedings till April 06.
