KARACHI: The hearing of a constitution petition filed by a clearing agent Sharjeel Jamal against alleged harassment by Pakistan Customs and registration of FIRs’ on flimsy grounds was adjourned until March 24.

The Sindh High Court (SHC) bench comprising Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah and Justice Zulfiqar Ahmed khan was requested by Nasir Latif Khan Advocate, assistant to Barrister Farogh A Naseem that matter be kept aside as leading counsel was on his feet before another bench.

The bench inquired from Ilyas Ahsan Appraiser Law for Pakistan Customs that petition has already been disposed off. We have already ordered that Custom can proceed against your client in accordance with law, the bench observed.

However, considering ground of continuing harassment, the court issuing notice of the application to the respondent Customs’ department put of further hearing until March 24.

Sharjeel Jamal is facing dozens of FIR on charge of filing incorrect GDs. He facilitated import and release of Indian cloth into Pakistani market harming the local industry. AMI of Capt (Rtd) Haleem Siddiqui also had a role in the alleged crime involving release of more than 1000 consignments/containers.
