KARACHI: The hearing of more than 50 Special Custom Reference Applications (SCRA’s) filed by different importers/ companies was adjourned till March 10 by an appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Sadiq Hussain Bhatti.

According to details, different companies and firms imported Silver halide Emulsion Films . The films if of width not exceeding 105 mm are exempted under a SRO 509 (1) of 2007 dated 9-6-2007. According to Customs notification the goods under PCT heading 3702.3039 are exempted but if the width is more than 105 mm than these are liable to be assessed and charged under PCT heading 3702. 3200. The importers questioning the demand for custom duty filed the appeals including an appeal before Special Customs Appellate Tribunal which also rejected their plea holding the demand by Customs. Masooda Siraj advocate, counsel for Pakistan Custom would submit concluding arguments on next hearing i.e March 10.
