KARACHI: Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Gwadar has foiled a bid to smuggle 800 bottles of liquor worth Rs 28 million and 774 tins of beer worth Rs 464,400. On a tip of to Saeed Akram Collector of Customs MCC Gwadar he directed Additional Collector Junaid Ahmed Memon to constitute two teams in this regard.

A team headed by Aftabullah Deputy Collector Customs Gwadar and the other team headed by Deputy Collector Mushtaq Shahani were constituted. They launched the operation. The teams included Superintendents, Deputy Superintendents and Sepoys. The information received from Media Officer Superintendent Saleem Khokhar.

They launched operation and recovered the contraband goods from Sassi Panno area. However, the elements involved in the crime managed to escape from the scene.

The officials of Pakistan Customs Anti Smuggling Force have reinforced their activity in order to foil all types of smuggling in the country. The sensitive parts of the country where there were much chances of smuggling were including Quetta, Gwadar, Peshawar and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The cases of smuggling registered so far remained on high number and confiscation of goods as well in the history of Pakistan Customs. The Department has recovered hundreds of thousands number of contraband goods worth billions of rupee.

The intelligence agencies gathered the information that through the proceedings of smuggling goods, anti element activities and funding to terrorism activities were being carried out.

In this incident of smuggling, the proceeding under the provisions of the Customs Act 1969 has been initiated and investigation was underway.
