KARACHI:- A division bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Sajjad Ali Shah and Justice Junaid Ghaffar on Thursday allowed five identical constitution petition out of which four were filed by Telenor Pakistan.

The petitioners maintained that they have imported Telecom Exchange Operation Batteries of 2 volts and 12 volts of make ZTE and YUASA and filed Goods Declaration under PCT heading 8507.2010 which carries custom duty at a rate of 10 per cent but custom officials have rejected the same and assessed the consignments under PCT 8507.2090 which attracts duty at a double rate of 20 per cent which is in violation of section 25 (1) and Section 26 of the Customs Act 1969.

Today the bench disposed of all the five identical petitions asking the petitioners to deposit the differential amount with Nazir of the Court while asking the custom officials to release the consignment after Nazir is satisfied with the deposition of differential amount.
