KARACHI:- A division bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Sajjad Ali Shah and Justice Junaid Ghaffar on Wednesday ordered release of a consignment of curtains and accessories after payment of differential amount of duty.

The bench was hearing a constitution petition filed by Rafique Commercial Company against Director Valuation and Collector Customs Appraisement, West.

The petitioner maintains that they have imported curtain blinds, curtains, threads, borders and Tasel etc and imported goods are to be assessed at transactional value in terms of Section 25 of the Customs Act 1969. The Respondents however are adamant to assess the goods under Valuation Ruling 765 0f 2015 dated 9-10-2015.

The petitioner prays to the court to declare the assessment of declared goods under the new Valuation Ruling as illegal and arbitrary.

Today the bench after hearing the counsel for petitioner and customs legal team ordered release of goods on payment of differential amount with Nazir of the court.
