KARACHI: The R&D Appraisement East has approached the new Collector Appraisement East, Manzoor Memon requesting a high level inquiry into the affairs of the Collectorate.
The R&D apprised the Collector that a group of some officers and staffers were engaged in illegal and corrupt practices causing severe losses to the national exchequer and this ring was operating under the patronage of outgoing collector.
Sources said that a number of sensitive case filed were destroyed or removed from the record. These case files carried details and evidence of the wrongdoings and illegal practices of certain officers and officials.
It was known that the outgoing Collector Appraisement East removed the case filed to protect the culprits. Sources said that removal of case filed and note sheets by such a senior officer suggested that the group of unscrupulous elements within the collectorate were scared of legal action against them for their established corrupt practices, which resulted in losses to the national exchequer.
Sources said that despite repeated recommendations, the concerned authorities were avoiding inquiry into the affairs of the collectorate.
Manzoor Memon has been requested to take necessary action against the concerned officers for their illegal as well as criminal activities, so that justice could be served.
Sources said that the conduct of the outgoing collector Appraisement East towards sensitive issues and matters was not at all professional.
