KARACHI: WeBOC Module Aircraft Intimation Report (AIR) has been successfully implemented at all the airports of the country.
The system was implemented on January 06, 2015 and immediately after its implementation, the system almost collapsed. However, on the directives of Collector Preventive Tariq Huda, Additional Collector Tahir Qureshi, Deputy Collector Basit Hussain, Assistant Collector Jahanzeb Abbasi moved all the GDs filed in WeBOC to One Customs. This temporary arrangement was made to avoid panic like situation at the airport.
Talking to custom news.pk, Tariq Huda said that it was their duty to facilitate trade and traders.
Later, all the issues were resolved and the system gained its smooth momentum by January 09, 2014. Prior to the implementation of WeBOC at air-freight unit (AFU), the airline agents and ground handling agents were imparted training in this regard.
Project Director WeBOC, Majid Yousafani informed Customnews.pk that the issues were faced by the airlines and ground handling agents who did not attend the training sessions, that was why they were unable to confirm Aircraft Intimation Report (AIR) due to which IGM could not be accepted by the system.
He said that the as per the module, the confirmation of AIR will be the first step followed by IGM; and within 24 hours Airways Bill would have to be uploaded; and if the Airline agents failed to upload airways bill within 24 days, then they would have to get an amendment by AC/DC MIS. Airlines have to file the IGM at most 4-hour earlier than the landing of the aircraft.
He said that 39 IGM were filed at Karachi airport comprising of 110 GDs; 8 IGMs were filed in Lahore comprising 122 GDs and 44 IGMs comprising 30 GDs were filed at Rawalpindi.
ICG and air courier modules are ready and will be implemented at AFU in a few days, Yousafani said and added that they had fixed June 30, 2015 as the deadline for 100 percent implementation of WeBOC.
Sources said that draft air cargo rules have been dispatched to FBR, which will then be sent to all Collectorates and directorates for vetting.
Yousafani informed that PRAL had issued employment advertisement, so that shortage of staff could be fixed. WeBOC will ensure transparency, facilitate post-release verification, as the IGM will be filed before lending and the processing speed will be expedited.
