KARACHI: Pakistan Tax Bar Association (PTBA) has requested the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to extend the last date for filing income tax returns up to December 31 in order to facilitate the genuine taxpayers.
In a letter sent to Chairman FBR on Thursday, Rehan Jafri, General Secretary, PTBA informed that the bar was receiving various queries and problems in filing/e-filing of tax returns and wealth statements 2014 from all over Pakistan.
The letter said that the newly introduced IRIS System factually started working better after the Ashura Holidays that is since last two weeks and during these days the taxpayers and the tax consultants of the country have tried their best to complete the work but obviously are unable to do so as no sufficient time is provided to them which is the demand of all the taxpayers and tax consultants of the country.
It said that the tax return for the tax year 2014 came very late and it is also the fact that the IRIS System is factually started working since last two weeks which factually give a taxpayer/tax consultant only 15 days time to complete the work instead of three months given under the law which is totally insufficient.
