KARACHI: Customs Collectorate of Gwadar has seized smuggled narcotics worth Rs50 million in an operation at Khurkhera. Huge quantity of diesel smuggled from Iran has also been seized.

According to details, Tausif Gorchani, Assistant Collector Gwadar received the tip that large quantity of narcotics would be moving in truck apparently loaded with apples.

Gorchani along with a superintendent and four sepoys kept their vigilance on the movement of contrabands for three consecutive days, and finally the bid to move narcotics was foiled.

Customs recovered 2.5 tons of charas/hashish was seized which is worth Rs50 million at Khurkhera. The customs also seized an oil-tanker truck valued at Rs3.0 million.

As a vigorous campaign against smuggling, particularly the smuggling of Irani diesel, Customs Collectorate of Hyderabad has seized the commodity worth Rs2.1 million.

Chairman FBR has issued strict directives to Preventive Collectorate, Hyderabad Collectorate and Gwadar Collectorate to check illegal import of Irani diesel. Intelligence & Investigation has also been instructed to remain highly vigilant in this regard.
