KARACHI: The Special Recovery Team of Model Customs Collectorate of Exports, on the instructions of Collector Manzoor Memon, has initiated attaching bank accounts of defaulters in order to secure legitimate government revenue.

In this pretext, the Collectorate has received first recovery amount of Rs0.645 million on October 29, 2014.

The Special Recovery Team comprising of Assistant Collector Sanam Qureshi and Principal Appraiser Sardar Amin Farooqi has started notifying different banks maintaining banks accounts of companies, who defaulted their obligations, to attach the accounts and make payments in favor of the collectorate.

The banks have been notified, via notice under section 48(I) (CA) of Sales Tax Act, 1990, that if they failed in transferring the amount to the Collectorate, an action under the provisions of Customs Act, 1969shall be initiated without any further information.

It may be mentioned here that Manzoor Memon has already expedited the recovery campaign, and the assets/properties of different companies/entities were also being attached to secure government’s legitimate revenue.
