KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has directed all the tax offices and customs collectorates to timely submit para-wise comments in high courts.
It is observed with concern that directions of the high court regarding filing of para-wise comments on writ petitions / constitution petitions are not properly compiled with.
The courts have also shown displeasure on non-submission / late submission of para-wise comments on many occasions.
“Recently, in case of M/s Pak Arab Refinery Company, the Sindh High Court has issued contempt notice,” the FBR said.
The FBR said that the present situation clearly demonstrates that the tax and customs offices were not following the head office instructions. “Chairman, FBR has shown concern over casual attitude of the field offices in filing of para-wise comments in high courts,” it said.
The head of field offices have been directed to personally monitor the submission of para-wise comments in the courts.
