KARACHI: Pakistan Customs has revised customs values for Chinese origin solar fans (without battery/solar penal) up to $7 per piece as it was being imported under-invoiced value which caused loss of revenue to national kitty.
On Wednesday, Directorate General of Customs Valuation has issued fresh valuation ruling No. 689/2014 for collection of duty and taxes.
The following customs values are included:
Solar ceiling fan 48” (without battery/solar penal) will be assessed at $6.5 per pc;
Solar ceiling fan 56” (without battery/solar penal) will be assessed at $7 per pc;
Solar pedestal fan 8” to 14” (without battery/solar penal) will be assessed at $4 per pc;
Solar pedestal fan above 14” to 20” (without battery/solar penal) will be assessed at $4.5 per pc;
Solar bracket fan 8” to 14” (without battery/solar penal) will be assessed at $4 per pc;
Solar bracket fan above 14” to 20” (without battery /solar penal) will be assessed at $4.50 per pc
Two meetings were held with stakeholders for determination of solar fan from June, 2014 to September 2014.
A notification said that in case of consignments imported by air, the assessing officer shall take into account the differential between air freight and sea freight while applying the customs values determined in this ruling.
A review petition may be filed against this ruling within 30 days from the date of issue before the Director General, Directorate General of Customs Valuation.
It said that the Collectorate of Customs should ensure that the values given in the ruling for t he given description of goods are applied by the concerned staff without fail and any anomaly observed may kindly be brought to the notice of Directorate General immediately.
