KARACHI: The conveyor bridge built to transport raw-material to Pakistan Steel Mill from Port Qasim collapsed Saturday morning after it was hit by a trailer cutting the link between Pot Qasim and highway.

According to details, a trailer hit the pillars of the conveyor bridge due to which the bridge collapsed suspending entry and exit of vehicles to and from the port.

The Port authorities sorted out an alternate route through Ghaggar Phattak, which is a longer route and resulted in transportation hardships.
This bridge was built to transport coal and steel raw material to the steel mill through trolleys, but it was out of operation for quite some time due to the crisis facing steel mill.
The port authorities rushed to the spot to supervise the rehabilitation of the route however the collapsed bridge had not been removed till the failing of this report.
