KARACHI: Model Customs Collectorate Appraisement (West) has advised customs authorities to recover the government dues amounting to Rs 9.07 million in form of sales tax against M/s Universal Traders, Karachi which are not being paid till now, according to letter issued by MCC Appraisement, Karachi.
The notices have been sent repeatedly to the trader but no response received so far. So, the default surcharge in form of penalty of Rs 1 lakh will also be calculated at the time of payment, a letter said.
Therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by Sub-Section (1) of Section 202 of the Customs Act, 1969 (IV of 1969), all customs, Federal Excise and Sales Tax authorities that with immediate effect and till further orders, letter said.
The collectorate ordered the customs official to deduct the due amount from any money owing to the M/s Universal Traders, Karachi (NTN 01-01-0284782 and STRN No. 11-00-7326-347-46) which comes under control of Customs, FED and Sales Tax authorities.
“Recover the amount by detaining and selling the goods of belonging to the traders, under the control of respective authorities,” according to MCC Appraisement. The government dues so recovered should be forwarded to this collectorate immediately.
