KARACHI: Karachi Customs Agents Association (KCAA) has informed that port demurrage waiver still not implemented due to the absence of any clear policy, which was ordered earlier by the port and shipping ministry, a press release said issued on Tuesday.
General Secretary of KCAA Faisal Mushtaq said that Pakistan International Container Terminal (PICT) and Karachi International Container Terminal (KICT) and Qasim International Container Terminal (QICT) are still in fix that how to implement the said orders.
The Association has contacted all terminals and in response they have conveyed that port authority charges them Handling Marshalling and Storage (HMS) charges but until now no formal reduction in HMS charges are being offered due to which the demurrage waiver are also not being implemented.
It is mentioned that since 70 percent cargo moves through the terminal which are mentioned above in form of FCL containers and the clear policy must be designed in order to implement the orders of Ministry Port & Shipping
